14 singers of anime theme songs have formed a group called the “Anison All-Stars” to sing John Lennon’s “Imagine” in a charity effort to fight world hunger.

100 yen (about US$1.10) from each download of the song will go to the World Food Programme (WFP), the United Nations organization that fights world hunger and poverty. 100 yen would pay for about three meals in WFP’s school meals programmes. An estimated 1.02 billion people in the world are undernourished, and 350 million of them are children.

Mami Ayukawa, Yoshifumi Ushima, Minami Kuribayashi, Hiromi Satou, the supergroup JAM Project (Hironobu Kageyama, Masaaki Endou, Hiroshi Kitadani, Masami Okui, Yoshiki Fukuyama), Hiroki Takahashi, Kaori Hikita, Faylan, Yumi Matsuzawa, and Shunji Inoue all performed on the song.
