Alright. This took longer than I expected due to the fact that I’ve been kind of lazy on actually PLAYING the game, but after a few hours with it last night, I’ve got a pretty good idea of the game and can do a rundown on it. The game is Macross: Ace Frontier for the Playstation Portable. This game features all the Macross series to day. Everything from original Macross all the way to Frontier. This is basically the same as Gundam Battle Universe, which was released earlier in the year.

The game mechanics and everything are the same as Gundam Battle Universe. Right down to controls and for the most part customization and all. I’ve played through the tutorial of Ace Frontier and did a few missions in the Macross F story/era. I’ll let everyone know right now. I have not watched ANY of the Macross series other than some of Robotech (which I still think can’t be counted) and my only introduction to Macross was that and the Super Robot Wars series and also some of the Another Century Episode series. Both of which are good games.

The gameplay is fairly simple to pick up. The controls don’t feel clunky at all and for the most part the whole game is like a combination of a flight simulator game w/ Gundam aspects in it, which I was expecting. All the music should be recognizable to those who have seen the series.

Overall I can’t say much considering it was fairly standard to the gundam counterparts, but it has a mild addictive aspect about it that makes people continue to play. Now I’m not saying everyone will enjoy it, but definitely give it a try if you have the chance.

Graphics: 8
Gameplay: 9 (simple and doesn’t require too much effort)
Enjoyment: 8 (you unlock missions and other units as you play, which feels like slow grinding after awhile)
Overall: 8.5 (If your into the Gundam or Macross games definitely give it a go. A definite to those who are into Macross in general. It contains all the series from what I know, so yeah.)
