Street Fighter IV Collector’s Edition

Street Fighter has always been a fairly standard 2D fighter and is a game that will definitely not disappoint. In this I will be showing you what the collector’s edition has (for state side release at least).

Street Fighter 4 Collector’s Edition (truly a collector’s edition for there will be no reprints unlike most other collectors). In the states you get the following items…

-Game Disc
-Game Soundtrack (GST)
-Animated Film done by Studio 4°C
-C.Viper (360) or Ryu (PS3) figurine (Euro-release gets both)
-A box (to hold all these stuff in)
-a mini guide book illustrated by UDON
-DLC code for Brawler Costume Pack

Crappy scan. You have the game box which contains the game and for some reason the anime disc was there. The Anime box which had the soundtrack in it. The C.Viper figurine, which I have not taken out of the box covering yet and the Collectors Edition box...thing

So as you can see, this is definitely a large list of things for your SF4 needs. So, lets get to a review of the items shall we.

Game Soundtrack
Now, the game soundtrack is what you’d expect it to be. It has all the background music of the stages. Sadly it is missing the main theme and I was hoping it’d have the main theme (since it’s been stuck in my head for awhile now). The GST comes in at a 17 track CD, so you can enjoy your SF4 music while you play SF4 with your music player hooked up, or you can put it on your MP3 and pretend you can hadoken someone. Fairly good tracks, but still disappointed at the lack of some music.

Animated Short
Studio 4°C has been a fairly good animation group and this definitely shows it. The story in this short is suppose to take place after the events of SF2, but I saw a bit of the trailers and was confused since the stuff in the trailer are not shown in the film at all. It also lacks a few characters and really doesn’t set much of the mood for SF4. I also have a complaint about the disc being a 360 disc and not a normal DVD. I don’t get why they did it, but oh well. Overall it was definitely a good watch, though the official subs aren’t exactly quality and I found some errors or weird translations here and there even with barely any (assuming I have some to start with) knowledge of Japanese.

C.Viper Figurine
IT IS TINY!!! It was really tiny…I was hoping it’d be somewhat bigger than what it was, but not…. they lied to me. The crafting on it is okay and I have no complaints for it. It definitely looked better than the Ryu one from what I could tell, but still it is freakin’ tiny. I don’t know where to put it since I’m afraid it will drop and I’ll end up losing it somewhere in my room.

Street Fighter 4
Time for the longest part of the post… I really don’t know where to begin. The game is definitely fun, but at the same time, those who want to just pick it up will probably find it difficult if they have no knowledge of controls and Street Fighter in general. SF4 takes place after the events of Street Fighter 2 and there’s very little background story, but we can only guess. For those who have never played a Street Fighter game or were never really decent at it I’ll give you this warning, be prepared to rage…and a lot too. The game will cause you tons and tons of angst and you will just end up giving in and returning the game if you don’t prepare for it. The arcade mode is fairly easy even on easiest (it has to be anyway), but once you hit the last guy Seth… you will run into some trouble. You will probably find yourself fighting him a few times before you finally defeat him. As for online, the game will lag if you join a crappy connection, but with a fairly good one (at least 3-4 bars out of 6), you shouldn’t run into problems and you’ll have a pretty smooth play. Also, you can set how you search for players based on a few things such as match rounds, time, skill level, and language priorities. These also apply to how others search for you. It’s pretty simple and will take very little effort to get accustomed to it. The challenges will annoy you. They have 3 sets of challenges: Time Attack, Survival, and Trial which are all separated into 2 difficulties: Normal and Hard. All the trials gradually get harder and harder. The one I had trouble doing where the trials. Trials are good to help you get accustomed to a character and learn some basic combos, but at the same time the game does not demonstrate them at all and instead will show you the button combination and will let you figure it out. Some trials are easier to do than others, but you will be stuck somewhere, unless you have god-like controlling. Overall the game itself is fun, but isn’t really designed for a normal 360 controller play. I would suggest playing it with a FightPad or stick, but it is definitely not unplayable if you don’t have them, but it will make life easier if you did. Definitely worth playing and I’m constantly looking for some friendlies/casuals, since I’m not a competitive kind of person. Oh speaking of which almost forgot. There’s a leaderboard for all those who wanted one.

So, yeah feel free to add me on live (I use the same name as I do everywhere) and I’ll gladly accept…maybe.

    C.Viper (360) or Ryu (PS3) figurine (Euro-release gets both)

We didn’t get the soundtrack or a box for our movie, though, both of which I’d rather have more than the figure.

The Japanese intro is far superior in my humble opinion, if only for the fact that you can’t hear the horrible lyrics!! (Unless you speak Japanese, I’m given to understand that the lyrics are just as cheesy and cliched in Nihonji, but to me they just sound like lovely graceful syllables.)

    Great post, mate!
