Day 5

On the 5th day of Manga, Val presented to you…

Shaman King by Takei Hiroyuki

Genres: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy, Supernatural

shaman king

Shaman King is about a boy called Yoh Asakura who is a shaman. Yoh is currently training to become the Shaman King, who is like a God. Every 500 years a tournament is held for all the shamans in the world to compete and to decide who shall be the Shaman King. Yoh, with the help of Anna, his fiance, Manta, his friend and other shamans that he meets along his journey all fight together to advance further in the shaman fight. However like every Shonen story there are obstacles be it opponents living or dead, rivals or evil villains there is always some sort of challenge that faces Yoh and his friends. In a competition where everyone is fighting for the ultimate reward, who is going to win, and who is this strong opponent that looks just like Yoh?

Shaman King has 300 chapters in total. Due to a hiatus in the middle of the series, Shaman King has 285 chapters, then there is Shaman King Kang Zeng Bang (strange name I know) which is then the rest of the chapters as well as a few chapters that had been redone from the original series. Kang Zeng Bang finishes the series but there is more.

Relax, a one shot in the series is about another character called Hao and how he met his followers,

Mappa Douji, another one shot in the series is about Hao’s childhood so to speak,

Funbari no uta, a five chapter story is based after the series and is about a young boy called Hana who is also known as Yoh and Anna’s son

and finally,

Shaman King: Flowers, is supposedly a series based 10 years after the shaman fight about Hana and his teenage years. I say supposedly because only one chapter has been released so far and there isn’t much news for when the next one is coming out.

Either way its a fabulous read.

Till next time x
